Penang [檳城] • 11 JULY 2014
Penang has a number of stall selling porridge and one particular stall that is worth mentioning is the Tai Buan Porridge. It is housed in a shoplot on Muntri Street serving good rice porridge and side dishes.
Braised Duck, Liver, Gizzard, Porridge, Braised Ingredients, Irresistible Fried Egg with Dried Turnip, Salted Vegetable, Braised Duck Meat, Braised Pork Belly, Braised Tofu. So many to choose from , delicious.
This Teochew style porridge is very popular and most of the customers are back for return visits. Closed On Sunday.
The stall has been operating for more than 15 years. It is a family business, started with the father and then passed down to son and assisted by mother and a few workers. This restaurant is definitely old styled. Steeped in tradition, this stall enjoys a constant flow of loyal customer although eating porridge nowadays is no longer cheap.
Chye Poh:(Preserved turnips) sweet chype poh with eggs. Yummy, I love it.
Tai Buan is a nice place to eat Teochew porridge as the stall is very clean and I like the mild tastes of their dishes. Always crowded, so have to wait for 5-10 minutes for a seat.
