Beijing North Railway Station, China

In China, train travel is one of the best ways to get around. This page shows a train trip - Beijing North train station.

Beijing North Railway Station, formally called Xizhimen Railway Station, is located in Xicheng District, Beijing. It was originally built as a station on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway in 1905, and reconstructed to be a modern transportation hub in 2009. At present, it operates trains to Hohhot, Manzhouli, Tongliao and the S2 Line of Beijing suburban railway.

1. The North Station is connected to the Exit A of Xizhimen Station of Beijing subway Line 2, Line 4 and Line 13.
2. By city-buses: There are a great number of city-buses accessible at Xizhimen station, which is located in walking-distance to Beijing North Railway Station.

By subway: Subway Line 2 and Line 13 to Beijing North Subway Station, get off the exit and then walk to the Railway Station.
By Bus
1. Bus No.21, 331, 375, 387, 392, 490, 604, 650, 693, 743 to Suojiafen bus station, and then walk to the North railway station.
2. Bus No.27, Big 44, Small 44 Xiao, 206, 347, 618, 800, 939 to Yutaoyuan bus station, and then walk to the North railway station.
By taxi: The cost from midtown Beijing to Beijing North Railway Station is normally around RMB35 depending on the type of taxi.

S2 Line to Badaling, Yanqing
The S2 Line is an express railway connecting to Yanqing County to the northwest of downtown Beijing. On the 1.5-hour journey, the trains of S2 Line pass through Qinghuayuan, Qinghe, Changping, Nankou and Badaling. It supplies travelers with a convenient transportation to the Badaling Great Wall from Beijing City other than taking bus 919.

Everyday, there are 16 trains of S2 Line departing to Yanqing Station from Beijing North Railway Station, 13 of which do have a stop at Badaling, and vice versa.

Ticket Fare
The train tickets could be paid both by cash and Beijing Transportation Card. The ticket of CNY6 is valid for taking two stops to the whole journey, and the ticket of CNY5 is only valid for one stop. Extra ticket of CNY1 should be purchased if you would like to take more than one stop with the ticket of CNY5.
Tips: 1. If you will take the train for one stop from Beijing North Railway Station, Badaling Station and Yanqing Station, you should purchase the train ticket of CNY5 printed with designated station's name. Namely, both of your departure and arrival stations will be listed on the ticket.
2. Except of the above three stations, if you will take the train for one stop, you should purchase the train ticket of CNY5 without station's name. When taking the train, both of the travel date and your departure station's name will be stamped on the ticket artificially.
3. If you hold Beijing Transportation Card, you should go through the self-service channel to board on the train. The card reader will deduct the ticket fare automatically when you exit from the train station.
4. All the train tickets are only sold at the stations of S2 Line railway, and unnumbered seat.
5. The train tickets could only be purchased on the day of travel, and could not be refund.
