Waterfront promenade at Marina Bay , Singapore 滨海湾

A stroll around the Marina Bay waterfront promenade will be a pleasurable experience many will want to keep coming back to. By the end of 2009, Singaporeans and visitors alike to Marina Bay can look forward to an uninterrupted, experiential stroll along the 3.5 km promenade around the bay. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) announced today the key design features of the new waterfront promenade at Marina Bay, a continuous waterfront loop, linking up the necklace of attractions at the Marina Centre, Collyer Quay and Bayfront areas.

Banana cake

Banana cake is very popular in Hong Kong style bakery shops. Since banana is quite expensive in Hong Kong, not all bakery shops have banana cakes available. When we moved to Singapore, we could easily find beautiful and cheap bananas. Not long, the price of bananas was going up.

We were craving for authentic Nyonya meals, since we were in Penang; one of us recommended this particular Peranakan style food at Logan Heritage. Finding this little nyonya restaurant at Penang is a bit tough if you do not have the address and GPS navigation help.

Longevity Peach Bun

The longevity peach (shou tao) is not a fruit but a Chinese steamed bun in the shape of a peach, with lotus paste filling and coloured a bright festive pink. Traditionally, the shou tao is eaten at birthday celebrations of elderly folks where the buns are piled at least knee high on a tray.
