Breakfast at Eng Loh Coffee Shop @ Church Street, Penang

At just after 9 a.m., the morning crowd at kopitiam — coffee shop,  — was steadily thickening. The thin veneer on our wood table was chipped; my plastic chair stuck to the back of my legs. And the scrawny man who materialized as soon as we sat grunted with impatience when we paused to think before ordering. He recommended me....
3 Layer Tea is a popular drink from Sarawak. Normally our breakfast will be watery soft-boiled eggs and crisp slices of toast slathered with thick yellow butter and kaya, an eggy coconut jam : a perfect kopitiam experience in Penang. 
For a change , I tried Taiwan Roti and the thick slice is sold for RM3.50. The main ingredients is margarine, peanut butter and crushed peanuts. The bread is the ordinary fresh white bread which is sliced into very thick pieces. It is toasted with a layer of margarine. Peanut butter is then spread on to the melted margarine with crushed peanuts sprinkled on top.


Garlic Toast (RM4.00) – Very generous with the pungent garlic and garlic butter, the nicely sliced-into-cubes toast was great for sharing

There was, indeed, something special here. I will definitely go back there again!
